Crap!

Today I came home to a mysterious package on my porch. The only package I was planning on getting was from Barnes and Noble and that's not supposed to come until Friday.

I ripped it open and it was my shoes! My new Hurricanes that I found on the net! (how did we find the cheapest prices or retired shoes before the internet?) I opened the box and compared them to my older "new" shoes, to make sure I got the same model and guess what I saw?

Seriously, people, I just bought these shoe. In January. Not even a month ago (it was the 10th or something). I have an appointment with my chiropractor tomorrow and I'll ask him about it. I'm going to ask my orthotics maker, too. These shoe might have 100 miles on them, might. I'm guessing it's closer to 50.

At this rate, I'll be buying shoes every 250-300 miles. I thought I should be able to get about 500 out of them...

Any suggestions or comments? Is this normal? Do I need to investigate different shoes or just lose 30 lbs?

Some shoes are just that way. I used to run in Asics Gel Kayanos all the time. I was lucky to get 250 to 300 miles out of a pair. Since then I've changed to Asics GT2140s. I'm at 200 miles and don;t see the wear.

You might want to check out Runner's High in Irvine. Talk to Ted there (owner) and he will point you in the right direction.

Thanks, Glenn, I will. My old NB 1223 lasted forever, or it seemed they did.

Wow, Yas. I've never had a pair of shoes wear like that, so I don't know what to tell you. I get up to 500 miles on shoes sometimes.

I don't know how we ever found those deals before the internet! I just got a pair of Asics GT2130's last week, too.

I used to run in Hurricanes (I think it was the 9's...they look exactly like yours) and they wore out FAST...like 200 miles or less on a pair. Last time I was at Road Runner Sports, I tried the Hurricanes again...The shoe dog guy steered me back toward the NB1224s (the new 1223s). He noted that the Hurricanes are softer and tend to wear out faster than the NBs...That's also been my experience.

I only have one 10 minute run in the NB 1224s...so far they do feel like the 1223's. They're pretty stiff. I miss my Hurricanes, which were like running on butter, and I may go back to them depending on the hip and PF issue, but if your Hurricanes are wearing out fast, it seems to be par for the course...although I will say 100 miles isn't much.
